The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) of the Brooklyn Bar Association respects your privacy.
LRS has created this statement to demonstrate its firm commitment to your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect about you and what will happen to that information. Questions regarding this statement should be directed to info@brooklynbar.org.
Information About You
When you make contact with LRS through this website, we ask you to provide information about your legal problem. In addition, we request that you provide your name, telephone number and email address.
This information that you provide is held in the strictest confidence. The information that you provide will be reviewed by LRS staff for purposes of responding to your inquiry.
In addition, in the course of finding an attorney who can help you, information about your legal situation will be shared with an attorney so that he or she can assess his or her ability to assist you with your legal matter. Your identity may be disclosed for purposes of screening for conflicts of interest. If the first attorney declines to accept the referral, a second attorney will be contacted, and so on, until your matter is referred or until we suspend the search.
It is the policy of LRS to respect the privacy of its clients. Except as described above, under no circumstances will LRS disclose information provided by you to any individual, advertiser, vendor, or any other entity without your express prior written consent.
If you send correspondence to LRS, such as emails or letters, we may collect such information into a file specific to you. We may use information in the file we maintain about you, and other information we obtain from your current and past use of the website to assess problems or complaints.
Security
To ensure the security and confidentiality of the information you provide to LRS through this website, we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) server software. SSL encrypts all information which you provide to us in the course of making a request for a lawyer referral. This technology is used by most web sites to safeguard credit card information and other personal data.
IP Addresses
LRS may on occasion log IP addresses for systems administration purposes. Your IP address may be used to gather broad demographic information, but we would not use IP addresses to monitor your behavior on this site or elsewhere.
Delete Policy
LRS does not offer users a means by which to delete personal information provided to LRS.
